Published Thursday, July 30, 2020

Mexico City, July 30, 2020. - Viva Aerobus, Mexico´s ultra-low-cost-carrier, will operate at 60% of its total flight capacity during August. This means an operational growth of 10% compared to July. This increase in flight frequencies on multiple routes meets Mexico´s connectivity needs according to recovery trends of the aviation sector and a market analysis.

During August, Viva Aerobus will operate more than 80 routes, an offer that will be kept or adjusted throughout the month depending on demand according to current health emergency. Cancun, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Tijuana, the airline's operating bases, are some of the main connected destinations.

All flights are carried out under disciplined prevention, hygiene and safety protocols, with unrestricted adherence to the recommendations and sanitary measures issued by the competent national and international authorities.

“Mexico and its passengers can trust Viva Aerobus to fly safely and at the best price. We continue resuming flights under a renewed approach that prioritizes prevention and hygiene, guaranteed with our Viva Contigo program. Moreover, we take care of the economy of our passengers, facing this complex scenario, with two new and innovative initiatives: ‘Zero Fare’ and ‘TU Aliado’”, said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.

In order to provide more possibilities to access air transport and enhance flights customization, Viva Aerobus created ‘Zero Fare’ and launched the new payment alternative ‘TU Aliado’. Zero Fare is a new travel fare for those who do not need to carry checked or hand luggage, thereby receiving a discount in exchange for their right to carry this luggage. It only includes the transport of a personal item, which measures should not exceed 35x45x20 centimeters, such as a handbag or a backpack.

Besides, ‘TU Aliado’ is a new payment alternative which allows booking a flight and postponing the payment of up to 60% of the total cost, by deferring the settlement of the Airport Departure Fee (TUA), from the time of purchase until flight's departure.

"All these efforts prove that Viva Aerobus is well prepared for the new normal and for an agile recovery, focusing on what is important to our passengers: reliability, low prices and flexibility," said Juan Carlos Zuazua.
