Viva Aerobus increased passengers by 20% in January 2020

Mexico City, February 6, 2020. - Viva Aerobus, Mexico´s ultra-low-cost carrier, achieved a 20% increase in its passengers, national and international, corresponding to January 2020 compared to the same month last year, with a total above 1 million customers and a load factor of 87%.

“In 2019 we were the airline with the highest percentage growth in passengers and this trend contin-ues. More and more passengers choose Viva thanks to the advantages offered by our service: low prices, strategic destinations, direct flights and the youngest fleet in Mexico,” said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.

According to the most recent report of the Federal Civil Aviation Agency, Viva Aerobus was the airline with the best percentage growth in 2019 in terms of total passengers with a 20% increase. Moreover, in terms of domestic market, according to this same report, Viva Aerobus was the third airline which carried more passengers within Mexico last year with a 18.6% growth.

“We will continue opening more routes, frequencies and increasing our capacity to meet the many and diverse needs of our passengers. We are the first and best flight option in Mexico,” added Juan Carlos Zuazua.

In this regard, in January 2020, Viva increased its capacity by 26%, measured in available seats per kilo-meter, compared to the same month last year. Besides, only in the first month of 2020, the airline al-ready announced two new routes: Cancun - Santiago de Cuba and Los Cabos – Nashville; this as a re-sult of its expansion strategy and commitment to the country's air connectivity.

  • ASK (Available Seat Kilometers): Seat available for sale that flies 1 kilometer (regardless of whether it is occupied or not).
