Viva Aerobus increases its flight offer in Mexico City: two new routes with destination to Oaxaca and to Hermosillo

Mexico City, March 11, 2019.- As a result of its commitment to accentuate the country's connectivity, Viva Aerobus, Mexico´s ultra-low-cost carrier, announces its first two new routes in 2019: Mexico City - Oaxaca and Mexico City - Hermosillo. Both will start operations on March 31st.

Mexico City - Oaxaca joins Viva’s offer with three flights per week (Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday) at prices starting from $ 748 pesos (one-way). Therefore, more than 60 thousand seats will be available for passengers in the first year of operation of this route.

Regarding Mexico City – Hermosillo, it will have a daily flight, offering more than 135 thousand seats in the first 12 months of its service. Tickets for this route start from $798 pesos (one-way).

"Mexico City - Oaxaca represents an opportunity to enhance the economic development of the state, since this is a city that benefits from a greater and more accessible flight offer, being one of the privileged tourist destinations of the country", mentioned Juan Carlos Rivera Castellanos, Ministry of Tourism of Oaxaca.

Viva Aerobus has been contributing to the dynamism of passenger traffic in Oaxaca as it operates in three airports of the entity: Oaxaca, Huatulco and Puerto Escondido. Throughout 2018, the airline registered an increase of 17% in the number of seats occupied from / to the state in contrast to 2017.

Concerning Hermosillo, the airline also reported an annual growth of 4% in the number of passengers transported from / to that city in 2018, compared to 2017. Viva operates the Hermosillo - Guadalajara and Hermosillo - Monterrey routes.

Raúl Revuelta, General Director of Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, operator of the Hermosillo International Airport, mentioned that the added value of the Mexico City - Hermosillo route is that "at the same time that it creates a direct bridge between two prominent cities, thus stimulating economic activity; it also facilitates traveling to other destinations because Hermosillo Airport is one of the main connection platforms for passengers traveling to the US-Mexico border region".

With the announcement of this route, Viva Aerobus already has 23 routes from Mexico City, an offer that has been supported by the growing preference of passengers. For instance, during 2018, the airline achieved an increase of 14% in passenger traffic compared to 2017 from / to Mexico City.
