Flight restrictions

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, air operations are constantly changing. We recommend staying informed about current flight restrictions before planning any trip and booking your flight.

Domestic flights

Currently, there are no additional restrictions on flights within Mexico, but you must wear face masks from boarding until disembarking the aircraft. Avoid wearing valve masks and face shields without a face mask.

Wash or disinfect your hands before boarding your flight. We recommend bringing hand sanitizer with 70% alcohol concentration and disinfecting wipes.

International Flights

Flights to the United States

Information for passengers flying to the United States:

US authorities have announced that all passengers, 2 years and older, traveling to the US must show a negative COVID-19 test taken within 1 day before departure and be fully vaccinated.

Flights to Cuba

As of January 5, passengers traveling to Cuba must meet the following requirements:

  • Present official COVID-19 vaccination certificate (fully vaccinated).
  • Show a negative PCR test result taken no more than 72 hours upon arrival in the country.

Entry requirements for Cubans residing in the country who are not fully vaccinated:

  • PCR testing will be mandatory at the Point of Entry in Cuba.
  • Quarantine for 8 days in an approved quarantine hotel. The traveler will assume all accommodation and transportation costs. A PCR test is required on the seventh day after arrival.

Additionally, travelers are requested to fill out the traveler form within 48 hours prior to arrival in Cuba.

For passengers traveling from South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Malawi, and Swaziland, it will be mandatory to:

  • Present official COVID-19 vaccination certificate (fully vaccinated).
  • Show a negative PCR test result taken no more than 72 hours upon arrival in the country.
  • PCR testing will be mandatory at the Point of Entry in Cuba.
  • Quarantine for 8 days in an approved quarantine hotel. The traveler will assume all accommodation and transportation costs. A PCR test is required on the seventh day after arrival.

Regardless of their nationality, passengers under 12 years old are not required to present a vaccine certificate or PCR test upon arrival in Cuba. However, epidemiological surveillance and the mandatory use of face masks will be required at airports and in the rest of the country.

Foreign passengers arriving into Cuba enrolled in international schools, have scholarships in Cuban institutions, technicians or collaborators, will have to quarantine for 8 days and take a PCR test on the seventh day after arrival.

Any traveler arriving in the country who tests positive for Covid-19 will be admitted to a designated health institution.

Flights to Canada

Per government policy, entry to Canada is permitted only for passengers who meet the following requirements:

  • Be fully vaccinated by of any of the vaccines approved by the Government of Canada:
    • Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty (tozinameran, BNT162b2)
    • Moderna Spikevax (mRNA-1273)
    • AstraZeneca Vaxzevria/COVISHIELD (ChAdOx1-S, AZD1222)
    • Janssen/Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2.S)
  • Have received the last dose of vaccine at least 14 days before entering Canada.
  • Upload your proof of vaccination to ArriveCAN.
  • Show no signs or symptoms of COVID.

If your proof of vaccination is not in English or French, you must present a certified translation in either English or French, in addition to the original certificate.

Additionally, all passengers over the age of 5 must submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test or a COVID-19 recovery molecular test taken no more than 72 hours prior to flight departure to Canada.

Minors between 12 and 17 years old, who are not vaccinated, will be subject to a 14-day quarantine upon arrival, regardless of whether the passengers accompanying them are fully vaccinated.

All passengers will be subject to random testing and must have a quarantine plan in place if they test positive or show symptoms.

Important: All expenses incurred due to these health measures are at your own expense and as a traveler, you must show that you have a “quarantine plan”.

Flights to Colombia

In accordance with the measures established by the Colombian Ministry of Health, as of February 1, all passengers 18 years and older must present their COVID-19 vaccination certificate and or a negative PCR or antigen SARS-CoV-2 test result .

Vaccination certificate:

  • It can be in digital or printed format. It must have your full name, vaccination date, name of the vaccine or its manufacturer, as well as the number of doses applied. You must have received your final dose 14 days prior to travel.
  • Accepted vaccines are those authorized by the World Health Organization (WHO) such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson, among others; as well as those approved for application in Mexico and other member countries of the United Nations, such as the Novavax, Cansino, and Sputnik V vaccines, among others.
  • Fully vaccinated definition can vary and is defined by the manufacturer.

Negative Covid-19 test result:

In the following cases, a negative antigen test result must have been taken within 48 hours before flight departure, or a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours before the scheduled flight time.

Foreigners or tourists visiting Colombia:

  • If you are not fully vaccinated, meaning you have only the first dose, or do not meet the 14-day requirement after your 2nd dose, you must show both your vaccine certificate and a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test result.

Important: Travel is not allowed to people who have not started their vaccination process and whose current residence is not in Colombia. This measure does not apply to minors under 18 years old.

Colombian citizens, Colombian residents, or members of diplomatic corps and their families:

  • If you have not started your vaccination process or have not completed it, you must present a negative antigen test result taken within 48 hours before flight departure or a negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken within 72 hours prior to the scheduled flight time.

Additionally, all passengers without exception must:

  • Wear a surgical mask throughout their flight and bring extra masks for flights longer than 2 hours. N95 masks are recommended for people over 60 years of age or vulnerable populations.
  • Complete the entire immigration pre-check-in form from the Check-Mig App at least 24 hours before going through immigration (to enter or exit Colombia).

In addition to COVID-19 prevention measures, it is recommended to get the yellow fever vaccine 15 days prior to your trip in case of visiting at-risk areas.
